On the flight home
First thing when we touch down
I switch off flight mode and check my phone
God’s texted back
But was I too slow?

When we first get in
That first vibration
Is the reference pitch
That we’re all tuning in
Then a symphony of relief
A hundred seat belt buckles in unison
Two-hundred feet and creaking seats
For the standing ovation
Stuck stood an inch in front
Hunched over the seats we’ve been sitting in
So I text him back
‘We just touched down
